Monster Energy Supercross Review
Monster Energy Supercross is packed so full of features and game modes that you won’t know what to do first. Single player modes include, single event, time attack, career and championship. A nice “custom championship” mode is available where you can also choose to race tracks built by other players. For online we have quick match and create match so you can invite your friends to come and race too.
A great part of this game that I love is the track editor. There is a certain amount of satisfaction that comes from racing your own track. It’s possible to spend a long time on this, but equally easy to have a track built within ten minutes. The track editor is easy to use but comes with a tutorial just in case you need a little help.
Fancy customising your bike or your riding gear? No problem, you can literally customise everything, I mean everything. You can spruce up your chain, tyres, rims, handlebars clothing, you’re getting the picture here right? Give yourself a truly unique identity and if by chance you match someones combination, go put the lottery on because there are hundreds of combinations.
With Monster energy supercross from Milestone we can watch replays, go into the replays and take screenshots. Use filters, blur backgrounds, move the camera around for that perfect shot. All the images here on this page were taken by me while playing. Imagine you’ve just nailed that perfect jump, watch the replay and grab that screenshot. It’s worth noting that I reviewed this game using the Xbox one standard, so the One X will look even better.
Now on to the gameplay, I’ve tried it on easy and all the way up to the realistic modes. As you would expect it gets harder as you turn off the assists, but it’s so much fun even when you lose. The physics of the game are good but sometimes, especially in mid air if you hit someone or they hit you, the game can jump a little. It is possible to land on a riders head and for you both to still carry on riding when you get back on the track. Should you fall or should we both be able to ride on? I did seem to veer of the track a couple of times when hitting barriers too but it didn’t bother me too much. However that shouldn’t put you off, there is a rewind function.
Monster energy supercross will keep you busy for hours, racing, track editing, customising kit and bikes. It’s simply fun from start to finish and being able to capture everything while you go in such a nice way is perfect for the media lovers like me. The way the game can be a little jumpy and unpredictable sometimes could be a problem online but honestly I don’t think it will. If you’re into games like these like I am, then get it. You won’t be disappointed and you certainly will get your monies worth with the potential hours and hours of game play you’ll get.
